WEEK TWELVE RESULTS

  • WEEK TWELVE WINNER:  Carolyn Beins.  Carolyn went 6-0 and earned maximum bonus points with her lock. That’s a good way to win the week, which she did. Her 131 points were the 2nd most scored this year.
  • The overall and lock winning percentages were pretty good: 53.8% and 63.8%, respectively.
  • Week Eleven was the second best week of the year by almost all categories: winning percentage, lock winning percentage, average score and 100+ points.
  • Despite it being a good week, the group majority only went 6-9 ATS.
  • Jacob Harbaugh has been hanging out near the top of the leaderboard for most of the year. He finally inched his way into the top overall spot. He currently sits 4 points clear of John Mellish.
  • Four people climbed into the Top Ten from outside the Top 20.
  • Six people in the Top Ten scored 100+ points in Week 12.
  • Only 25 points separate 10th place from 20th place.
  • 43 people have at least 40 wins. 67 people have at least 40 losses.
  • Dusty Weatherly has a 11-0-1 lock record. He left no doubt this week by going 6-0.
  • Tyler H is still looking for his first lock win. I don’t know the odds of going 0-12, but its not good.
  • Myron Martin is 10-2 on his locks, but he is only 28-44 overall. That means 36% of his wins are from his locks.
  • The three most popular picks of the week (Baylor, OSU and OU) were all ATS winners.
  • Those three schools accounted for 42% of the locks.
  • Favorites were 9-6 ATS, which pushes their yearly total over 50%.
  • 5 underdogs received the majority of the picks. Baylor was the only one to cover the spread.
  • Ohio State and Notre Dame both earned maximum bonus points.
  • 10 of the 15 games earned bonus points, which tied Week Two for the highest total of the year.
  • We are down to the Final Four in the bracket: Dusty Weatherly, Steve Baker, Brad Knowles and Shannon W. They all scored at least 87 points to advance.

WEEK ELEVEN RESULTS

  • WEEK ELEVEN WINNER:  Elizabeth Kreeb.  For the second straight week, we only had one person go 6-0. This time, it was my sister. Last week, my brother-in-law. Something fishy is going on here.
  • The overall and lock winning percentages were bad again: 47.2% and 44.2%, respectively.
  • Despite a below average winning percentage, the average score was 60 points, thanks to OSU’s blowout win over TCU.
  • For the 6th time this year, the 0-6s outnumbered the 6-0s.
  • John Mellish held onto the top spot in the rankings. He only has a 17 point lead over 2nd and 3rd place, but he as an 87 point lead over 4th place.
  • The gap between 1st place and 10th place (122 points) is the same as the gap between 10th place and 129th!
  • Dusty Weatherly has a 10-0-1 lock record. Corey Vernon is right behind him at 9-1-1. Five others are 9-2.
  • We have 4 people in the Top Ten with a losing lock record.
  • Oklahoma was easily the most popular pick of the week: 173 picks overall, with 67 of those being locks. The 67 locks were double that of the next closest (OSU with 33 lock). OU lost the game outright.
  • Purdue was the 2nd most popular pick of the week and easily the most popular lock. They failed to cover the spread against Ohio State.
  • Only 26% of the locks went for the underdog. Of those, 27% went for Purdue.
  • For the first time since Week 5, we had a maximum bonus point game. Oklahoma State hammered TCU.
  • For only 2nd time this year, we had a week without a game that was worth 23 points.
  • The Washington State vs Oregon game ended in a push. It was the 4th occurrence of the year, and the first one since Week 5. Nine people have picked a side in each of the 4 games.
  • Not a single person locked either Maryland or Virginia. Wise decision. Neither one of them covered.
  • Home underdogs continued their winning ways. They went 5-3 this week.
  • Double-digit home favorites were 3-0-1.
  • In the bracket, Alan S was the lowest scoring participant to advance. He scored 35 points.
  • Pete Knopp was the highest scoring participant to be knocked out. He scored 82 points.

WEEK TEN RESULTS

  • WEEK TEN WINNER:  Jon Taber.  He was the only person to go 6-0, and he did it in a week when the average score was the second worst of the season.
  • The overall and lock winning percentages were bad: 43.0% and 42.8%, respectively.
  • It was the 2nd worst week of the year by winning percentage, average score and total number of people to score 100+ points.
  • With the 0-6s outnumbering the 6-0s by a 9 to 1 margin, they have taken back the lead for the year, 49 to 42.
  • John Mellish is back in 1st place.
  • We have three new faces in the Top Ten, which means we had to say goodbye to a few. John Vollbrecht had the roughest week. He slipped from 10th to 29th. Kathy Butler and Mary Stovall (sisters, by the way) joined the Top Ten alongside Garrett Green.
  • Dusty Weatherly keeps on winning his locks. It was his only win in Week 10. He has a 9-0-1 record now. Tyler H is 0-10. Yikes.
  • Last week, I recognized Chad Bradley for having the most losses for the year. He responded with a 5-1 week. Jason Kurien now has the dubious distinction with is 20-40 record.
  • The top 6 most popular picks were only 1-5 ATS. Oklahoma State was the only team to cover.
  • Baylor was picked by 208 people, making them the most popular pick of the year, surpassing the 206 picks Arkansas received against Georgia in Week 5. They lost the game outright against TCU…..Arkansas didn’t cover either.
  • Wake Forest and Navy were the only two underdogs to receive the majority of the picks. Neither one of them covered the spread.
  • When a team receives +75% of the picks, they are only covering at a rate of 40%.
  • Only 62 people picked a side in the USC vs ASU game, which makes it the least popular game of the year, surpassing the 65 pick total from last week. Its the 4th time this year that USC has been involved in the least popular game of the week.
  • John Vollbrecht and Brandon Yowell were matched up against each other in the bracket. They went a combined 1-11. Congratulations on your win, John?

WEEK NINE RESULTS

  • WEEK NINE WINNER:  Alan S.  We had ten people go 6-0, and they were only separated by 3 points.
  • The group and lock winning percentages were the worst in four weeks:  48.2% and 45.7%, respectively.

  • The total number of 6-0 have now exceeded the number of 0-6s.
  • Michael Patton is enjoying the top spot on the leaderboard for the first time this year.
  • Steve Baker shot up into the Top Ten with his 123 points, moving from 25th place to 6th.
  • Josh Moser was the only person to drop out. He is now in 22nd place.
  • The gab between 1st place and 10th place (83 points) is the same as the gap between 10th and 74th.
  • Dusty Weatherly is still in the lock lead with an 8-0-1 record. Three people are at 8-1.
  • As for the other extreme, Tyler H is 0-9 on locks. Eight people are 1-8.
  • Chad Bradley has the most losses for the year. His current record is 15-37-2. He’d be in 1st place if he’d picked the opposite side in every game.
  • Home teams were an astonishing 13-1 ATS this week!
  • The two most popular picks (Notre Dame and Georgia) were ATS winners.
  • The next six most popular picks were all ATS losers!

  • Only 65 people picked a side in the FSU vs Clemson game, which makes it the least popular game of the year. It was also the worst beat of the year. Clemson scored a fumble TD as time expired to cover by half a point.
  • Six people advanced in the bracket despite scoring less than 50 points.
  • Zach Smith advanced with 20 points, thanks to his opponent going 0-6.
  • Brent Polwort scored 103 points but was matched up against our weekly winner, Alan S.
