WEEK FOURTEEN RESULTS

Thanks again Kurtis for all your help this year.  I could not do this without you.  Now, onto the results…

WEEK FOURTEEN RESULTS

  • WEEK FOURTEEN WINNER:  Mason McCowen.  Four people went 6-0.  15 people finished the week without a loss!  Mason outscored them all with his 131 points.
  • Last year, the final week was the worst of the year.  This year, it was one of the best.  It was only topped by Week One.  The group winning and lock winning percentages were great:  55.7% and 69.5%, respectively.
  • For only the second time this year, nobody went 0-6.
  • OU was easily the most popular pick of the week.  The lock distribution is one of the biggest discrepancies in PP6 history:  82-0, in favor of the Sooners.  OU won and covered.
  • The group majority went with the underdog in five games:  Stanford, Akron, Louisiana Monroe, Georgia and Wisconsin.  ULM was the only team not to cover.
  • The four most popular picks were ATS losers:  Navy, Clemson, Wisconsin and OSU.
  • The Top Ten saw a big shake-up.  Nobody held onto the same ranking as Week 13, and Blake Roth was the only person to move just one spot (10th to 9th).
  • Cole Grinnell saved his best week for last, going 6-0 and capturing the 2017 PP6 Title.  He entered the week in 4th place, 20 points behind the lead.
  • Despite a solid week (78 points), Stephanie Hoisington fell from 1st to 3rd.  She missed out on 2nd place by one point.  One point.
  • Brad Knowles was the only person to drop out of the Top Ten.  Amberlea Smith took his spot.  However, all was not lost for Brad, because……
  • The Lock Race:  Brad Knowles captured the “Lock of the Week” Title.  He finished 12-2, which was 1/2 game better than Jimmy Smith and Chelsie Darr.  Unfortunately for Chelsie, only the top two spots get paid and Jimmy won the tie-breaker by having more total points.  Smiles all-around in the Smith household.
  • Frank Dano finished the year with an incredible 0-13 lock record!
  • The Best Finish Award: Weston McCann won the prize with a solid 18-5-1 record. He was in 302nd place when the competition started.  He is proof that just because you’ve had a bad year doesn’t mean you can’t go on a good run.
  • The Elimination Bracket:  The point of the bracket is to spread the wealth.  Jeffrey Szul had other plans. He beat out Jason Overbey for the title.  Jason was was consistently good during his run to the championship game, but good wasn’t good enough in the Finals.  Szul outscored him 108 to 61.
  • Everyone in the Top Ten except John Fuhrman and Blake Lee had at least two 100+ point weeks.
  • The highest ranked player with a 0 point week was Bill McManus in 35th place.  Last year, Trevor Bowman finished in 5th place despite a 0 point week.
  • Huck Briese (5th place in the standings) finished the year with a 4-8-2 lock record.  To find the next person with only 4 correct lock picks, you had to scroll down to Thomas Adler in 65th place.

WEEK THIRTEEN RESULTS

  • The Majority 6 was only 2-4.
  • 9 of the 15 games earned bonus points.
  • There were only three games with single-digits point spreads.  They were all covered by the underdog.
  • Strangely, the two most popular picks were matched against each other:  Auburn (118 picks) vs Alabama (114 picks).  Auburn won and covered.
  • The next three most popular picks (Ohio State, Texas Tech and Miami) were all ATS losers.
  • The two least popular picks, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, were ATS winners.
  • It is TIGHT at the top of the leaderboard.  Stephanie Hoisington has the lead, but there are 6 people within 40 points of her.
  • Only 24 points separate 10th place from 18th place.
  • Four people in the Top Ten have a lock record of .500 or worse.
  • Just like the overall standings, the lock race is also very tight.  Three people have reached the 11-win mark: Brad Knowles Chelsie Darr and Brian Thomas.  Three others are at 10-wins:  Jimmy Smith, Jacob Smith and Jeremy Ridge.
  • The Elimination Bracket Championship Game: Jeffrey Szul vs Jason Overbey.  Jeffrey advanced despite only scoring 21 points.
  • With a 14-4 record, Weston McCann leads the Best Finish Race.  Six people are one game back.

  • The 0-6 count finally passed the 6-0 count, 47-44.
  • The Majority 6 only went 2-4.
  • We had three Top Ten matchups on the card last week.  All games were won and covered by the home team, and all earned bonus points.
  • Four of the five most popular picks (Ohio State, OSU, Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame) failed to cover.  OSU was the only team to cover, and it took last second dramatics.
  • We have a new leader, Stephanie Hoisington.  She has a two game lead over second place.
  • The gap between 1st place and 10th place is the same as the gap between 10th place and 125th place.

  • Jason Brown and Frank Dano are fight for the worst lock record at 1-10 and 0-10, respectively.
  • Brian Tatro is still alive in the Elimination Bracket, despite scores of 41, 50 and 52 points.  That is some good luck.

WEEK TEN RESULTS

WEEK TEN RESULTS

  • WEEK TEN WINNER:  Matthew Silver.  Only two people manged to go 6-0:  Matthew Silver and Melissa Kucab.  Matthew captured the week with his 130 points. Hi Ho Silver
  • The group and lock winning percentages rebounded from last week:  48.3% and 50.2%, respectively.
  • For the year, both the group and lock winning percentages sit at 49%.
  • It took ten weeks for the 0-6 count to catch up to the 6-0 count  We’ve now seen 42 each.
  • Home Underdogs went 4-0-2.
  • Double-digit home favorites were only 1-4 ATS.
  • Bedlam was the most popular game of the week, and OU was by far the most popular lock.   It was one for the ages, with a familiar result.
  • The top of the leaderboard remains congested, but a small gap has emerged between 3rd place and 4th place.
  • Three people are tied with a 9-1 lock record: Brad Knowles, Chelsie Darr and Aaron Aulgur.  Aaron is tied at the top, despite having an overall ranking of 255th place.
