WEEK FIFTEEN RESULTS

WEEK FIFTEEN RESULTS

  • WEEK FIFTEEN WINNER:  Brian Patton and Jon Taber.  Nine people went 6-0.  Neither Brian nor Jon had the season they wanted, but they cashed.
  • The group winning and lock winning percentages were great, capping off a historic PP6 season.  They were 58.2% and 56.5%, respectively.
  • The season group and lock winning percentages set all-time records:  52.3% and 53.8%, respectively.  Not only are they records, they absolutely shattered the records.  Typically, the season winning percentages are in the range of 48.2 to 49.7%.
  • For the first time this year, nobody went 0-6.
  • The most popular pick of the week, Ohio State, failed to cover the spread.  However, the next five most popular picks did.
  • The group majority went 7-3 this week.
  • Baylor and Oregon were the only two underdogs to get more interest than the favorites.  They both covered.

  • The final tally for 6-0 vs 0-6 was 102 to 59.  That is a shocking statistic.  The only other time 6-0s outnumbered 0-6s was in 2013, but it was only 60-51.
  • Home Underdogs were 33-50-4, which is by far the worst record in PP6 history.  The previous worst was 39-42-2 in 2015.
  • The average score for the season was 66.2 points per week…another record.  The previous record was 63.7 points in 2012.
  • The Majority Six shattered the previous record.  They were 52-32-3 this year (59.8%).  The previous record was 44-40-1 in 2012 (52.4%).
  • Participants scored 100+ points at a rate of 11.7%, which beat out the previous best of 11.5% in 2012.

  • Chad Capra captured the PP6 2019 title with an incredible record of 60-28-2.
  • The Top Ten didn’t see much movement in Week 15.  Other than Jason Gorsuch and Rick Barrett entering the Top Ten, nobody moved more than two spots.
  • The Lock Race:  Brandon Bains captured the “Lock of the Week” Title.  He finished 13-2, which was 1/2 game better than Rick Barrett, Steve Stephenson and Stuart Rowlan.  Unfortunately for Steve and Stuart, only the top two spots get paid and Rick won the tie-breaker by having more total points.
  • Tyler Armstrong finished in the cellar with a  2-12-1 lock record.
  • The Elimination Bracket:  Chris Kinard beat out GundyonDaHundy for the title.  Chris has been great all year.  He entered the bracket as a 2-seed and was consistent all year.
  • Everyone in the Top Ten had at least two 100+ point weeks.  Everyone except Chris Kinard had at least three 100+ point weeks.
  • Over the final three weeks of the season, the worst score was 60 points by James Welin in Week 15.  40 scores, and nobody did worse than 3-3.
  • Rick Barrett strung together five consecutive 100+ point weeks! During that stretch, he jumped from 191st place to 7th.
  • It should come as no surprise that Rick also won the “Best Finish” award.  He closed the season on a 21-3 run!  The next best was Heidi McAtee with a 18-4-2 record.

WEEK FOURTEEN RESULTS

WEEK FOURTEEN RESULTS

  • WEEK FOURTEEN WINNER:  Nathaniel Harris.  Another week with double-digit 6-0s, which means you had to score a bunch of points to win the week.  Nathaniel did just that.  He scored 136 points and climbed into the Top 100.
  • Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: The group and lock winning percentages were really good:  56.1% and 52.1%, respectively.
  • The average score (73.9 points) was the second best of the year.
  • 69 people scored 100+ points, which is the highest number since week 5.
  • Same old story with the home underdogs:  3-6 this week.
  • Favored teams had their best week of the year:  11-4
  • The group majority was 10-5.  That makes the record over the last three weeks 28-15-2.
  • The group continued to ride Ohio State.  They were the most popular pick and lock of the week.  The Buckeyes easily won and covered against Michigan.
  • Three underdogs received at least 100 picks.  They were 1-2 ATS.
  • The biggest pick disparity was in the Kansas vs Baylor game.  Baylor received 195 picks to only 23 for Kansas.  The Bears crushed KU 61-6.
  • Home favorites were 5-1.
  • Chad Capra reclaimed his spot atop the leaderboard with one week to go.
  • The gap between 1st and 10th (99 points) is the same as the gap between 10th and 88th.
  • Stephen Eanes (24th place) is the highest ranked player with a losing lock record.
  • Brandon Bains has a 13-1 lock record.  Steve Stephenson is right behind him at 12-1-1.  Joe Dub is 12-2.
  • Chris Kinard and GundyOnDaHundy will meet in the finals of the bracket.

WEEK THIRTEEN RESULTS

WEEK THIRTEEN RESULTS

  • WEEK THIRTEEN WINNER:  Cole Hines.  We had five people go 6-0 this week.  Cole Hines led the way with 129 points.  He has been great the last four weeks.  This latest performance vaulted him into the Top Ten.
  • The group and lock winning percentages were great……again, 55.1% and 54.1%, respectively.
  • Its inevitable at this point, the 6-0s will outnumber the 0-6s this year.  We had five 6-0s, to only one 0-6.
  • Despite it being another great week for the group, we only had 38 people score 100+ points.
  • Another bad week for the home underdogs (1-3-1).  Their overall winning percentage is 41%, which is 11.5% worse than last year (52.5%).
  • Underdogs received the majority of the picks in 3 games.  They were 2-1 ATS in those games.
  • Baylor was the most popular pick.  They easily covered against Texas.
  • Oklahoma State was the most popular lock, despite going into the game with uncertainty at quarterback.  That game ended in a push.
  • Penn State vs Ohio State was the only game where both sides received 100+ picks.  Penn State lost the game but covered the spread.
  • Teams favored by less than 10 points were 5-1-1 ATS.
  • Five teams received less than 5 locks.  None of them covered the spread.
  • James Welin still holds the top spot in the rankings.
  • 20 people are within 50 points of the Top Ten.
  • The lock of the week leader is still Brandon Bains.  He is only in 128th place overall, but is 12-1 on his locks.  Steve Stephenson and Stuart Rowlan are tied for second with 11-1-1 records.
  • 248 people have a lock record better than .500.  At this point in 2018, we had 150 people.
  • Jared Hunter has surged up the leaderboard the last few weeks.  He was ranked 232nd after Week 10.  He is 24th now.
  • Rick Barrett has enjoyed a similar surge.  His third consecutive 100+ point week has pushed him from 191st to 33rd.
  • The final four in the bracket is set:  GundyOnDaHundy, Nate Mulanax, Troy A and Chris Kinard.

WEEK TWELVE RESULTS

WEEK TWELVE RESULTS

  • WEEK TWELVE WINNER:  Jason S and Iven Stevenson.  Eight people went 6-0 this week.  Jason and Iven led the way with 128 points.
  • With only three weeks left to go, it is looking more and more like the 6-0’s will out number the 0-6’s for the first time in PP6 history.  The current count it 78 to 55.
  • The group winning and lock winning percentages were really good….again…:  55.4% and 56.3%, respectively.
  • In a season where favorites have already outperformed historical statistics, they had their best week of the season:  10-4-1.
  • Home underdogs continue to get hammered, which is typically a smart bet.  They were 2-4-1 for the week and an astonishing 29-41-2 for the year.
  • Baylor vs OU was the most popular game of the week, and picks were evenly distributed:  133 for Baylor and 122 for OU.  Baylor covered the spread, but OU kept their playoff hopes alive.
  • Alabama was the biggest winnner of the year in their game against MSU.  They received 207 picks, to only 16 for MSU.  Alabama won and covered, but they lost Tua.
  • Teams favored by 15 or more points went 4-0.
  • Brandon Bains and Jason Sampson share the best lock record (11-1).  Three people are tied at 10-1-1, and six people are 10-2.
  • Tyler Armstrong is like a poorly oil machine, knocking out one losing lock after another.  He is 1-11 on the year.
  • James Welin held onto the top spot, despite having the lowest scoring week of anyone in the Top 48.
  • This is the time of year where being in the Top Ten starts messing with your head….or so I’m told.  Stick to the strategy that got you there.
  • And then there were eight:  The bracket is down to eight players.  Chris Easterly was the highest scorer of the week (104 points).

WEEK ELEVEN RESULTS

WEEK ELEVEN RESULTS

  • WEEK ELEVEN WINNER:  Jared Hunter, Brant Chill, Chad Bradley and Gary Mathews.  When 15 people (15!) go 6-0, there are going to be some ties.  Unfortunately, four people tied for first.
  • The group winning percentage was solid, but the lock winning percentage was the third-worst of the year:  53.7% and 47.8%, respectively.
  • Three of the top four most popular lock selections failed to cover the spread.  Baylor (the most popular lock) was the only team to cover, and they needed a little luck to do so.
  • Strangest stat of the week:  15 people went 6-0 AND 12 people went 0-6.  It is the first time in PP6 history that we’ve had double-digit totals for both categories in the same week.
  • The overall record and lock record are both still over .500.
  • Home teams had another awful week:  3-12 ATS.  They are a combined 6-22-1 the last two weeks.
  • Home underdogs were only 1-5.
  • The Majority Six had another good week:  4-2.  It is now has a 60% winning percentage for the year!
  • 3 teams accounted for 41% of the lock total:  Baylor (65), Penn State (65) and OU (55).  Baylor was the only team to cover.
  • The four most popular underdogs (LSU, KSU, Minnesota and Iowa) all covered the spread.
  • Chad Capra finally relinquished the lead.  James Welin took over the top spot in style, going 6-0 for the second time this year.
  • Brandon Bains is the only person with an 11-0 lock record.  Chad Capra is 1/2 game back with a 10-0-1 record.  Three others are tied at 10-1.
  • Tyler Armstrong and Linda Smith are “battling” for the worst lock record. They are both 1-10.
  • Chris Easterly was the lowest scorer (44 points) to advance in the bracket.
  • Jason Kurien was the highest scorer to lose (82 points).
